Louie O’Grady

Louie O’Grady (1986, Birmingham, England) is a composer and improviser currently studying composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music, Cardiff, Wales. He started playing guitar in his early teenage years and has continued his study up to present. Since settling in Cardiff he has been active in the improvising community and has established the Improvising String Group with Ashley John-Long & Jimmy Ottley.

After several years of composing for acoustic instruments he has now turned his interest to electronics, specifically in the augmentation of acoustic instruments and sound sources. future projects are set to focus on field recordings, both as standalone documents and the integration of them within compositional and improvisational frameworks.
